Young children learn through actively manipulating materials. They are at the "hands on" stage of learning and can only fully comprehend and integrate experiences into their lives when they are allowed time to explore, experiment and use ideas in a way that is meaningful to them- that is, directly related to their world and their prior knowledge. All children need hands-on experiences, but for children who have less developed auditory skills, this hands on approach is imperative. Therefore, The Workshop is an active learning enviroment.
This philosophy continues through our Primary Grades where children have lots of hands on experiences and where teachers are helping the children towards real learning and understanding. The education each child receives is tailored to his learning style and needs. We seek to foster creative thinking, love of learning, and joy in each accomplishment. The children will be exposed to a full range of learning opportunities including, Spanish, Music, Science, Cooking, Art and Computers.

Teacher/Pupil Ratio

Our preschool classes have 14-18 children with 2 classroom teachers. Kindergarten classes have a maximum of 20 children with 2 teachers. The primary class ratio will be 12:1 maximum. In addition, the child will be exposed to other teaching specialists in Music, Spanish and Science.

When the children arrive at school, a teacher will come out to meet them and get them from each car. When it is time to go home, the children will be seen to their cars by a teacher so that parents do not have to get out of the car.

Parent Conferences

These are set up on a regular schedule and are in our yearly school calendar. Teachers will always be available to meet with parents upon request and teachers will bring information to a parent's attention as is necessary. Cooperation between parents and teachers is imperative. We are here to supplement the family. We believe that parents are the child's most important teachers and we seek to complement that teaching.
